Henry Purcell | Strike The Viol, 4 cellos
Transcription for 4 Cellos by Giovanni Sollima
"Strike The Viol" by Henry Purcell is one of the coolest pieces in music history. It’s built on a ground bass and has a couple of versions by the same composer, essentially for voice. However, as in many cases, the vocal line is entrusted to an instrument. In those arrangements of mine, I was also freely inspired by Purcell's beautiful Fantasies for viol consort.
