IL MANDATARO, cello and basso continuo

€20.00

I composed 'Il Mandataro' for the discographic project on the music for cello by Giovan Battista Costanzi (1704 - 1778), a virtuoso cellist and composer from Rome to whom I dedicated two CDs recording with his Sonatas and Symphonies for cello. Costanzi held the role of Mandatary in Rome for Cardinal Ottoboni, representing, in addition to that of a musician, an important managerial figure of the time. My piece is a kind of Free-form Sonata for cello and basso continuo (to be entrusted to a second cello, a Theorbo, and a Harpsichord). The music moves between a few tiny quotations and a strongly popular character.
