Cervetto - Andrea Cavuoto | Concerto "Violoncello"

Concerto “Violoncello” by Cervetto is a vague title on a manuscript preserved at The Dean and Chapter Library, Durham, shelf mark M202/2. It is a three movement work in galante style, marked Spirituoso, Adagio and Minuetto. The music sheets bear a violin 1 part for the tutti, giving place to the solo part, paired with an unfigured bass line. Whether this work is by father or his son James is debatable since the style of the two is almost coincident. The melodic and harmonic material is drawn from Sonata III of the Six Solos Opera Terza composed by Sig.r Cervetto.
